Three rooms on the floor where type was set by hand from 1893 to 1989.
The compositors stood at sloping desks along the long wall, picking letters out of the cases one at a time. The desks are gone; the long window they worked by is still there and lights all three rooms.

The floor here is maple, laid in 1893 because it does not splinter when a tray of type is dropped on it, and it has been dropped on often. Some boards still carry small dents in rows, which is where a compositor's stool stood for forty years.
Each room has a framed proof sheet from the shop's own archive on the wall: a tide table from 1931, a fish auction notice, a cider label. They were found in a drawer in the attic and cleaned by a paper restorer in Caen.

In every Composing Room
- Maple floor from the composing room
- A proof sheet from the shop archive
- Shower room with a long basin
- A writing table under the window
- A shelf of books about Honfleur, left by guests
One flight from the desk, through the door behind the old counter. These are the closest rooms to the front door and the easiest to reach late at night.
Play happens in a single room of this house, the loft over the old shop, and in no other place. The Printed Room takes no bets online, opens no player accounts and handles no payments through this website.
