Questions people ask

These are the questions the desk answers most often, in roughly that order.

If yours is not here, ring or write. Somebody is at the counter at every hour of the day and night.

When can I arrive and when do I leave?

Rooms are ready from three in the afternoon and should be left by eleven. Bags can stay at the desk on either side of that, for as long as you like.

Is there a lift?

No. The house is too old and the stair too narrow. Staff carry luggage up, and Courtyard room 3 is on the level for anyone who cannot climb.

Where do I park?

Not at the house. Unload at the door and use the car park by the eastern basin, seven minutes away on foot.

Can I bring my dog?

Into Courtyard rooms 1 and 4, by arrangement, and into the bar on a lead. Not into Upper Case at dinner or into the bath house.

Are children welcome?

Yes. Street Rooms take a folding bed or a cot, and the kitchen will make a smaller plate of most things on the card.

How do I book?

By telephone or by email to the desk. There is no booking engine on this site and no card is taken online. A room is held with a confirmation from a person.

What if I need to cancel?

Tell the desk as early as you can. The terms are written in the confirmation you receive, and they are the same for everyone.

Is the house quiet at night?

Very. The yard goes quiet at eleven, the bar closes at midnight, and the loudest thing on Rue Haute after that is the church bell.

Can I borrow a bicycle?

Yes, there are six in the yard with baskets and locks. Take one from the desk with a key and bring it back before dark.

Do you have beach towels?

Striped ones, on the shelf by the yard door. Bring them back sandy; that is what they are for.

Play happens in a single room of this house, the loft over the old shop, and in no other place. The Printed Room takes no bets online, opens no player accounts and handles no payments through this website.
